Use Your Outside Voice: Hey There, Sleeveface! March 04 2015 1 Comment
This week we’re playing with album sleeves to make our own unique images. Hang out and learn how to make a sleeveface and then share your work with the community.
Learn: What is a Sleeveface?
A sleeveface or LP Portrait is a fun way to play with an existing image and turn it into something new. It creates a hybrid photo of the model and the famous person on the cover. The resulting images are weird, fun, and visually interesting.
Create: Get your face ready!
- Album sleeves with faces.
- Costume pieces or props
Step 1: Find an album cover with a large image of a face.
Step 2: Examine the image and look for distinguishing pieces like clothing or accessories that will help to continue the image out of the picture.

Step 3: Dress up and pose with the album cover in a position so that it looks like the person in the sleeve has extended into the real world. Have a friend or family member take your picture.
Step 4: That’s it! Check out your awesome new sleeveface.
Now, show the world what you can do! Take pictures of your sleeveface image and post them to Instagram with the hashtag #ovsleeveface or add them to the thread about this post on our Facebook page for a chance to be featured in our photo stream or on our website.
